Erie’s First Community Darkroom

Founded by Sarah MK Moody who discovered film photography when she was 10 years old. She has been collecting and assembling this darkroom for 10 years in multiple cities and is excited and grateful to share her love with the Erie community.

We lead students to explore photography through classes, workshops and tutorials. We meet our students where they are in their photographic journey. We are currently celebrating summer by offering classes in experimental photography collaborating with the sun.

Our darkroom features:

  • 10 enlargers (Beseler and Omega donated from Ron Norman, Edinboro University, Tara Long, Art Center of South Florida, Diggy Lloyd, and other generous souls)

  • 2 sinks from female photographers - Diane Arbus and Nicole Reinhold Martin

  • Light tables

  • Cameras to rent

  • Tools to process black and white & color film

  • Resource Library

  • Space to explore the photographic arts
