Born in Antwerp in 1939, Nicole Reinhold Kramer Martin was raised in New York City. At 16, she first encountered the unique power of the photograph by Edward Steichen’s monumental exhibition Family of Man, a group show of hundreds of images whose perspectives seemed to unify the global human experience. Nicole began taking pictures with her husband's Nikon lying unused in a closet. Self-taught, Nicole has spent her life honing her craft, most recently working with SX70 Polaroids to transform images and create a new way of seeing her subjects and the world. She is based between Miami, Florida and the Berkshires, formerly Erie, PA.
